Bio

Nefeli was born in Crete Greece. In 2019/2020 she participated in the International Ensemble Modern Academy (IEMA), a collaborative program between the Ensemble Modern and the HfMDK Frankfurt, from which she will obtain a Master’s degree in contemporary performance. Through IEMA she was given the opportunity to perform at the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, the CRESC…Biennale für aktuelle Musik 2020 and “Shortcuts – Experiment und Begegnung” at the Kunst Kultur Kirche. Nefeli performed the “Hölderlin Lesen IV” by Hans Zender, with Salome Kammer and members of the Ensemble Modern in Alte Oper Frankfurt. She worked closely with composer Cornee Roos, fellow IEMA member and performed the premiere of his solo viola work “Prelude II”. Other opportunities allowed her to participate in the 180° Laboratory for Innovative art in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Nefeli is one of the founding and managing  members of Diaphonix, a new ensemble, consisting of former IEMA members. The ensemble is dedicated to contemporary music, performance and collaboration with artists from other disciplines.

She holds a bachelor of music from the Ionian University, studying with professor Andreas Georgotas and a diploma from the Ionian Conservatory, studying with Nikolaos Mandylas. Nefeli first came to Germany in 2013 for an Erasmus in the Musikhochschule Trossingen, where she studied with professor James Creitz. In 2019 she finished her master’s degree with professor Anna-Kreetta Gribajcevic at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg.

An avid chamber musician, Nefeli has performed in the Laeiszhalle Hamburg, K11 Shanghai, Berkley Art Museum & Pacific Film Archive in San Francisco. She has been a member of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Rethymno, the Symphony Orchestra of the Philharmonic Society of Corfu, the Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra of Athens and the Athens Youth Symphony Orchestra. She has also performed with the Ensemble Modern Orchestra, the Hamburger Camerata, the Lüneburger Symphoniker, the Hanse Philharmonie Hamburg.

She has participated in seminars and workshops with Chara Seira, Paul Silverthorne, Gareth Lubbe, Boris Faust, Matthias Buchholz, Andreas Willwohl, Anna-Kreetta Gribajcevic, Stefan Asbury, Heinz Holliger, Lucas Vis. She has also taken part in masterclasses such as ‘La Follia, a post-modern journey in improvised Early Music’, the IEMA Klangspuren, International Musiktage Brache and the international Mendelssohn festival.
